Four Week Course: Introduction to the Demidov Technique
Mon 19th April @ 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm
£120
This four-week course is an ideal introduction to the Demidov Technique, suitable for actors new to the technique, and also for those more familiar who would like to keep training in it. It will comprise one weekly, 3-hour class in which participants will develop their artistic instincts, training in the central Demidov principle of Creative Freedom.
The Demidov Organic Acting Technique is rooted in the culture of creative freedom. As founding director of the Moscow Art Theatre’s School, and one of the three original teachers of the Stanislavsky System, Nikolai Demidov uncovered the professional secret that puts actors in touch with their own creative individuality by teaching them to recognise and follow their artistic instincts, and was able to solve the problems of the actor’s creative state that Stanislavsky never could.
Working with Demidov’s foundational etudes, actors will train in Demidov’s unique approach to perceiving organically manifesting character, circumstances and relationships, as well as in the technique of Creative Calm and surrendering to impulse.
Over the duration of the course participants will be introduced to Creative Repetition – ‘repeating without repeating’. Actors will learn to trust and give in to their creative instincts, and develop the ability to enter a sustainable creative state, enabling them to access the richness of their inner life.
